Grove City College Loses to Dayton 16-5

Dayton, OH – The third-ranked Dayton Flyers defeated the Grove City College Wolverines by a final score of 16-5 on Saturday, March 19.  The Wolverines, missing two starters, trailed 4-0 at the end of the first quarter.  Kellen Quackenbush and Tim Irwin combined for 3 goals in the second quarter, but Grove City surrendered 4 more Dayton tallies and trailed 8-3 at the half.

Grove City College Lacrosse Midfielder Luke Stoltzfus Clears the BallDayton outscored Grove City 4-1 in both the third and fourth quarters, as the Wolverines were never able to put together an extended offensive run.  Connor Carroll and Christian Furbay lead Dayton with 4 goals each.  Statistics from the game can be found on the MCLA.us box score.

Grove City moves on to host #8 Briarcliffe on Friday, March 25th @ 7:00pm on Thorn Field.  #4 Davenport will visit Grove City on Saturday, March 26th @ 3:00pm.  The weekend contests between MCLA Top 10 teams could have significant implications for the MCLA D-II National Tournament.
